中禅寺湖 英国大使館別荘＆イタリア大使館別荘見学
やっと梅雨が明け、夏の青空が広がっていますね。毎日暑い日が続いています。
さて、昨日は栃木県の中禅寺湖へ行ってきました。MJ別荘プロジェクトのために、湖畔に佇む英国大使館別荘とイタリア大使館別荘を見学してきたのです。
クライアントの理想とする別荘の雰囲気の一つにこの英国大使館別荘があるとのことです。前回の打ち合わせでも、クライアントはその建物の気に入った部分を熱心に話してくれました。サイトの写真から、彼らが気に入った雰囲気は理解できましたが、建物全体や周囲の環境との調和は写真だけでは伝わってこないものですね…。
それで、百聞は一見に如かずということで、実際に足を運ぶことにしました。
そして、実際に見て触れて感じたことは、とても素敵でした！
なんと言っても、湖をパノラマで望めるテラスのような空間。ここは外なのか、室内なのか？
特別な、斬新な感じは一切なく、別荘としての空間の広がりや内部のデザイン、建物が纏う特別な雰囲気を肌で感じ取ることができました。やはり、目で見て感じることが大切ですね、特に空間においては！
改めてその重要性を認識しました。
クライアントが抱くこの大使館のようなイメージを、実際のプロジェクトにどう反映させられるか、設計者として私もとても楽しみです。

Finally, the rainy season is over and the summer blue skies are here. It's been scorching hot every day.
Yesterday I visited Lake Chuzenji NIKKO in Tochigi Prefecture to visit the lakeside villas of the British and Italian embassies, all for the MJ Holiday Home Project.
One of the aspects of the client's ideal villa is the ambience of this British embassy villa. During our previous meeting, the client spoke enthusiastically about the parts of the building that they loved. While we could see the atmosphere they liked from photos of the site, the overall harmony between the building and its surroundings wasn't fully conveyed by the images...
That's why we decided to see it for ourselves, because seeing is believing.
And let me tell you, the experience of seeing and feeling it in person was absolutely delightful!
The terrace-like space with a panoramic view of the lake was incredible. It was hard to tell if you were inside or outside. There was nothing overly extravagant or radical about it, but you could effortlessly feel the villa's spaciousness, interior design and unique ambience. Seeing and experiencing it in person emphasised the importance of visual perception, especially in space!
It really made me realise its importance all over again.
As an architect, I'm really excited to see how we can reflect the client's embassy-like image in the actual project.
